Monica Vir has earned a reputation as an accomplished corporate attorney who balances legal compliance with practical business advice. She is Co-Chair of the Corporate and M&A Group and a member of the firm's Real Estate Services Group.
Monica counsels both closely held family businesses and large national and international corporations. She is a trusted advisor whose pragmatic approach to providing legal counsel has earned her a reputation among her clients as being an integral member of their team. It is not uncommon for Monica to work with clients from their corporate formation through the eventual sale and disposition of assets.
In business transactions, Monica represents clients in all aspects of mergers and acquisitions, due diligence investigations, reorganizations and restructurings, and debt and equity financings. She has successfully represented both acquirers and targets in complex M&A transactions whose dollar values range between mid-six-figures and tens of millions. A tenet of Monica’s practice is to help clients identify, understand and mitigate the risks associated in their transaction and develop solutions to reduce any potential negative impact. While Monica’s practice spans a wide variety of industry sectors she has a particular experience advising on deals involving real estate, healthcare facilities, physician practices, technology companies and nonprofits.
Clients rely on Monica’s experience with and understanding of employment law to help advise on the retention of key executives and employees in order to position the company for success after the deal. Of additional benefit to Monica’s corporate clients is her understanding of and connections to sources of commercial financing.
Monica’s business clients have the convenience of access to Lindabury’s Tax, Financial Service, Real Estate, Environmental and Litigation practices to assist in completing their due diligence. As a law student, she served as a legal intern with Honorable Alfred J. Lechner, Jr., U. S. District Court, District of New Jersey (ret.). Prior to law school, Monica was a business analyst with American Management Systems, Inc.
Monica is an active member of the community serving on the Board of Directors for Hometowne Television in Summit New Jersey. She is a founding member of Lindabury’s Women’s Business Initiative which works to provide opportunities for professional women to develop and support business and mentoring relationships with other women professionals. In 2015, she was recognized by the New Jersey Law Journal as a New Leader of the Bar and was also recognized by NJBIZ as one of its top "40 Under 40" which recognizes men and women across New Jersey’s business community for outstanding achievement.
